Buffalo Kirkbride Preservation Update
According to the Buffalo News, renovation work on the central admin and adjacent wards of the Buffalo Kirkbride is about to get serious. If all goes well, work to preserve the stone sections of the building for future use will be in full swing this summer, and should be completed in about 15 months. The Richardson Center Corporation also plans on stabilizing the brick wards during this time, but they expect those sections may stay vacant for quite a while.
There will be a final public meeting about the project at 6PM on Tuesday, July 14 in Buffalo State College’s Rockwell Hall.

Great news! I’m sure this project will be a long term deal. No one expects them to renovate the whole building at once. Do we know anyone in that area that can keep us more up to date? Possibly with photos!
With all the Kirkbrides coming down this is really great news.
It is indeed great news, as is the fact that they’ve managed to secure and alarm all the sandstone wards, preventing further vandalism.
I have high hopes that the entire structure, brick wards included, will eventually be preserved. Since the announcement that they’re going to stabilize these outer wards, things are looking up!
the final plans were unveiled last night!:
