Scariest Place on Earth: Dixmont
I’m usually skeptical about the paranormal and don’t like the associations often made between ghosts and asylums. But I do like being scared and I willingly set aside my skepticism around this time every year. I’m not sure how I feel about Scariest Places on Earth though. The episodes I’ve seen were far too overdone and just downright silly. That said, Dixmont State Hospital will be featured on a special airing of Scariest Places on Earth this month. The program will be shown October 28th at 10PM on ABC Family as part of their 13 Nights of Halloween. I’ve never seen this particular episode, so I can’t really say I recommend it. It’s probably worth catching just to see the Kirkbride building though.
I’ll probably watch it too. Are there any other asylums featured in that series? I’m thinking that Met State was in something like it once.
Yeah, Metro was definitely featured on SPoE. It was pretty stupid too. The video is on YouTube somewhere.
Athens was also on the show once, wasn’t quite as pitiful as Dixmont but worse then Met State. From what I understand they wanted to do more episodes at other state hospitals, but who would let them after seeing the ones they already did!?! Same thing that has happened to Ghost Hunters.
Ha! Ghost hunters is a joke. “Oh no!, what’s that!” “Ops, too bad we didn’t get it on tape, despite all our awesome gear.” I have seen the Weston and Waverly episodes of ghost hunters, and man do they suck. So, I take it this show was filmed before Dixmont was demolished?
Well, i was watching Ghost Adventures, and they were looking into a(n) Insane Asylum and it was a pretty amazing Episode. I Suggest it if you want to watch something Pretty Incredible.
